Where to Get Your Caffeine Fix in Vegas!

Let’s face it: if you’re planning a trip to Vegas, it will likely include some of the best food in town, sipping some craft beer or lounging it with a cocktail, gracing a nightclub or two, and then the all-necessary recovery. Fortunately, Vegas has the recovery option sorted. With opportunities to caffeinate at every turn, Sin City has no shortage of places for caffeine junkies to get their fix. Plus, most of these spots double as fab places to catch up on laptop life, too. But, not all coffee shops are created the same. So, what non-Starbucks, non-Coffee Bean options are there? So. Many.

DOWNTOWN

The Beat Coffeehouse & Records

The darling of Downtown Vegas, the Beat was one of the first independent coffee shops to open during the emergence of the hipster downtown scene. Fortunately, it remains a go-to shop. With free wi-fi, plenty of seating, and a menu that offers coffee, breakfast, snacks, and yes — booze — it is a staple of the Downtown Vegas culture. Don’t miss the record shop in the back of the spot (hence, the name of the establishment), plus local entertainment at night that includes an open mic, live music and painting.

Makers and Finders

This urban hot-spot features seven methods of brewing coffee, along with five single-origin beans, plus lattes pumped with house-prepped syrups. This bright spot featuring urban art also includes breakfast options, bagels, empanadas and Latin-inspired comfort food (hello, chorizo brussel sprouts) making it the perfect place to grab not only a coffee, but lunch before exploring the awesomeness that the Downtown Vegas Art District offers.

A locals favorite (there are 2 other locations in the Vegas Valley) Sambalatte perfects the “art of sipping” and offers a chill place to get away from the crowds packing the Las Vegas Strip and get some coffee or other delicious beverage. Located in Monte Carlo’s outdoor plaza, this is the perfect spot to grab a seat, enjoy a cup and people watch … or just enjoy a gorgeous weather day. These cozy coffee havens brew freshly ground coffee, as well as offer up a variety of teas and other caffeinated (and non-caffeinated) beverages. They are also a perfect spot to grab a bite and serve a range of food, including Brazilian and Latin American cuisine, sandwiches, and — best of all — gelato. Be sure to check out the Alpha Dominche Steampunk coffee maker when you stop in, too!

THE ‘BURBS

Grouchy John’s

Grouchy John’s is the place to mingle with the locals. It’s got some funky hot drinks, like the O.G. which combines caramel, salt and vanilla with espresso and steamed milk, plus a multitude of cold beverages to choose from. It also serves tasty pastries and wraps to munch on. Be sure to check out its Caffeine and Canvas events, which are held every so often. They offer an opportunity to get artistic under the guidance of local artist Tommy Vinci. The shop, which recently expanded to offer even more fun (hello, board games), even pops up around town thanks to it’s mobile trailer.

Holley’s Cuppa

This coffee mainstay (which just opened a second location at The Gramercy) is run by Las Vegan Holley Steely, a former aerialist in La Reve at Wynn Las Vegas. The shop brings in the locals who love her brewing method (grinding the beans on-demand and then using the “pour over” method to prepare each piping hot cup) and the local vibe. Holley’s offers a wide variety of light and dark brews, decaffeinated options, a decent organic tea selection, and even green smoothies to keep up with the juice demand hitting the town. If you want to check out local talent, every Thursday she hosts open mic night at the South Cimarron location.
